Spring rejuvenates nature with vigour and vibrancy. The same nature, which was left dull by the harshness of winter participates in the celebration of life once again when spring arrives. But this transition from winter to spring doesn’t only take a toll on your health but also your skin.

So, why don’t you prepare your skin in spring for the upcoming changes? For that, you need to incorporate some spring beauty tips into your skin care routine. So, if you’d like to know more about spring skin care, stay tuned with us.

Spring Skin Care Routine

1. Use a Lighter and Milder Cleanser:

Winter is notorious for stripping away natural oils from one’s skin. So, it’s understandable if you used moisture-locking products. But now that spring is here, you need to replace them with lighter products.

Since spring is characterized by warmer weather, your skin will naturally produce oils. Ergo, you need to pay attention to hydration during this time. So, opt for gel cleansers or foaming facial cleansers.

2. Apply Water-Based Serums:

You need to replace your oil-based serum with water-based ones. These serums have water or aloe vera base. Hence, they tend to have watery or gel-like textures.

These serums have a comparatively lighter texture, but concentrated nutrients. They’re absorbed by your skin  quickly. without making it look greasy.

3. Opt for a Lightweight Moisturiser:

Are you contemplating skipping moisturiser altogether just because warmer weather is here? If you do, that’s going to be an epic mistake.

When you skip moisturising, the lack of moisture prompts your skin to produce excess oil. So, get yourself a hydrating moisturiser if you long for healthy skin. You may also try out a moisturiser with hyaluronic acid since it’ll ensure that your skin doesn’t seem too oily.

4. Wear Sunscreen:

It’s a must in your skin care routine. Warmer weather is characterised by scorching heat. This is one of the major reasons for premature ageing. Besides, harmful UV rays can also give rise to dark spots, fine lines, and wrinkles. In the worst-case scenario, they may also cause cancer. That’s why you must wear SPF 50 sunscreen whenever you step out.

5. Exfoliate Your Face:

Face care routine in spring is incomplete without a gentle exfoliator. You need to slough off that old layer of dead skin cells to reveal a newer and more glowy layer. But you need to do that gently. You don’t want to injure your skin, do you?

You may opt for an exfoliator that has glycolic acid in it. It eliminates dead skin cells from your face. But use it only once a month.

As for regular exfoliators, use them two to three times a week. You can prepare a homemade exfoliator with brown sugar.

Procedure:

  • 1/2 cup of brown sugar, 1/2 cup of honey, and one tsp of coconut oil
  • Mix them well and apply the concoction to your face in a circular motion
  • Leave it for 15 minutes and wash your face with cool water

6. Keep Your Retinol for Night-Time:

Retinol revitalizes the skin cells. Therefore, it is great for improving your skin texture. But you should know the proper way of using it. Your skin in spring gets exposed to direct sunlight. So, during the warmer weather, you should apply retinol at night. Otherwise, your rejuvenated skin cells may get burnt.

7. Perform Some Cleansing Ritual:

Well, you should always clean your makeup brushes regardless of the weather. Otherwise, when you use those, the piled-up germ and bacteria will cause you breakout. So, gently wash your makeup brushes.

Additionally, change your bedsheet often as a part of your skin care routine. Researchers have found that old feather and synthetic pillows contain 4-17 different species of fungus. Likewise, your sweat, dandruff, dead skin cells get transferred to your pillows, which then get back to your skin. It can cause different skin problems. That’s why you should change your bedsheets and pillow covers once a week.

8. Do not Neglect Your Lips:

Your face care routine should also include components to nourish your lips. It’ll help to brush off the parchedness caused by winter. You don’t need a store-bought product for that. You can prepare a lip exfoliator easily at home.

Procedure:

  • Take two tablespoons of brown sugar, 1/2 tablespoon olive oil, 1/2 tablespoon raw honey, and 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon powder
  • You can use coconut oil as a substitute for olive oil
  • Gently scrub your lips with the mixture. It’ll remove dry, dead skin cells off your lips

Also, apply an SPF chapstick before going out in the sun. It’ll prevent your lips from being darkened.

9. Change Your Diet:

People don’t lie when they said, ‘You are what you eat’. If you eat healthy, it’ll be reflected on your skin. So, have some fresh fruits and vegetables such as berries, tomatoes, squash, oranges, eggplant, etc. These can improve your skin elasticity by boosting collagen production.

10. Use DIY Face Packs:

You must give special emphasis to a natural skincare routine. It’ll help you in unleashing that marvelous glow you dream of. To moisturize your face in this transition period, you may use an avocado mask.

Procedure:

  • Mash ¼ avocado and form a smooth paste
  • Add one tbsp of honey and one tbsp of coconut oil to it
  • Apply the face pack generously and let it sit for 20 to 30 minutes. Then rinse it off with cool water.

No transition has ever been all about rainbows and butterflies. Likewise, the transition period from winter to spring may wear down your skin unless you embrace some changes in your lifestyle. So, abide by these spring beauty tips. Cling on to your natural skincare routine. If you do, your skin will be ready to participate in the celebration of life.
